Priorities

LeShawn Holcomb — Candidate Statement

As current Dean of Students at a Marin High School, former SMCSD employee, nonprofit leader, and Marin City community member, I have dedicated my career to creating opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and thrive. I am running for the SMCSD School Board to bring experienced, student-centered leadership to our district.

My priorities are clear.

First, rebuilding and strengthening trust. Our district is strongest when families, educators, administrators, board members, and community partners communicate openly and work together. I will prioritize transparency, accountability, and meaningful community engagement.

Second, fully realizing the Community Schools model. Our schools should be hubs of opportunity where students and families can access academic support, enrichment, wellness resources, and strong community partnerships. We must ensure this model moves from vision to measurable impact.

Third, strengthening middle school curriculum, student achievement, and outcomes. Our students deserve rigorous, engaging instruction that prepares them academically and socially for high school and beyond. I will focus on measurable progress, closing opportunity gaps, and ensuring students leave our district prepared to succeed.

I am ready to listen, collaborate, and lead with students at the center of every decision. I respectfully ask for your vote.
